This role serves as a key member of the core leadership team for CBRE Tri-State research and is tasked with executing the strategic vision for Americas and Tri-State Research in the suburban markets. Manager will oversee the data collection, analysis and reporting for the Tri-State suburban markets focusing first Northern and Central New Jersey, then eventually Long Island, Westchester County (NY) and Fairfield County (CT). Research will support multiple lines of business, with an emphasis on office and industrial, but also potentially retail and multi-family / investment sales lines of business in these geographies.
This position provides formal supervision to all research staff in suburban offices and serving suburban advisory and transaction (A&T) professionals, including all staff responsible for data collection and entry, as well as research analysts and senior research analysts doing field research.
The Suburban Research Manager is the primary contact for high level management and brokerage professionals working in these markets, supporting their requests for market information related to business pursuits and client service. The Suburban Research Manager will also serve as the subject matter expert for the suburban Tri-State markets, overseeing the development and release of all published content generated by the team.
Ensures the diligent and consistent implementation of standards and methodologies with respect to data validity, integrity and analytics. Makes sure that all junior research staff are fully trained in processes and procedures and can perpetuate data standards.
Assists brokers, sales management and marketing teams with strategy on pitches and pursuits.
Oversees the preparation and production of key research projects, presentations and reports, including quarterly MarketView reports and other published research deliverables, ensuring coordination with business professionals and marketing staff on content development and release.
Helps develop and articulate the CBRE point-of-view on the local market; works closely with brokerage professionals and research colleagues to gather and formulate insights, which will be delivered via research reports, presentations/client meetings, and media interviews.
Works closely with Tri-State Director of Research and Analysis and local marketing team, along with management and local A&T professionals, to develop and execute communications plans for research content and to promote CBRE research in the media.
Serves as the suburban market point person for all regional, national and global data requests.
Participates in the most important pitch kickoff meetings, and mobilizes team resources in accordance with the needs of specific pitches and pursuits.
Accompanies sales professionals as needed on client presentations and pitches. Effectively communicates competitive advantages of CBRE research platform, provides live demonstrations of CBRE research tools.
Regularly engages with market leaders and key brokers to get feedback on research support at the point of sale and identify areas of improvement
Works with national leadership to track Field Research engagement at the point of sale and measure value creation
Celebrates wins and successes with the team, and works with national leadership team to socialize wins and best practices
Manages the planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department. Responsible for managing suburban team â hiring, budgeting and other team management responsibilities.
Oversees all efforts related to staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination, in coordination with to next level management (Divisional Research Director) for review and approval. Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources.
Leads and supports staff in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising and rewarding performance and retention.

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Real Estate, Economics, Finance, Geography, and a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in CRE research, at least some of which is in the suburban Tri-State market area.
Minimum 2 years of management experience, with ability to oversee the hiring, training and day-to-day oversight of several junior staff, including some in other offices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills
Confident public speaker, able to attend client meetings and also speak to the press
Experience with Tableau or Power BI a plus.
